Melissa Ingraham was crowned Miss Bahamas Universe 2023 (aka Miss Universe Bahamas 2023) on Sunday, 2nd July 2023 at the Atlantis Showroom in Paradise Island. Melissa has now become the official representative of Bahamas at Miss Universe 2023.

Melissa Ingraham is 26 years of age and holds a bachelor's degree in environmental science and a master's in climate change. On winning the national crown, Melissa took to her official social media as she wrote, “It is such an honor to be crowned the Miss Bahamas Universe 2023.”

“This year, The Bahamas celebrates its 50th year of Independence, our Jubilee Year - representing the milestone of our freedom, culture and progress. I look forward to the road ahead as an Ambassador to my amazing country. I am thankful to my pageant sisters, committee, judges as well as my family, friends and everyone who has and continues to support me”, she added.

Melissa Ingraham, an environmental scientist, project manager, and passionate advocate for climate change action. She grew up in Nassau, Bahamas where she spent a lot of time outside and very early on, Melissa found her love for the environment.

Melissa Ingraham, over time, has lead initiatives aimed at promoting positive climate action. From orchestrating fruit tree plantings to facilitating mangrove restorations, and organizing community events, her mission has always been to sow the seeds of sustainability in the society.

Since its debut at Miss Universe in 1963, The Bahamas has yet to win the coveted title. Its highest placement was in 2021 courtesy of Chantel O'Brian who placed in the Top 10 and bagged the Spirit of Carnival Award.
