Raquel Castro – Official Candidate of Miss Costa Rica 2018

Miss Costa Rica 2018 will be the 64th edition of the National beauty contest of Costa Rica to hold its finale on 27th April 2018 where nine beauties will compete for the national title. The winner of the competition will represent Costa Rica at Miss Universe 2018.

The reigning Miss Costa Rica is Elena Correa Usuga who will crown her successor at the end of the event finale. Elena Correa was appointed to represent Costa Rica at Miss Universe 2017 after the franchise owner of the pageant postponed the competition due to complications in broadcasting schedule.

But before that, we’d like to introduce all the nine beauties in a series of features to share all the important information you need to know about these contestants before the grand finale.

Migrating from the Pejibaye community of Pérez Zeledón to San Jose for better professional opportunities, the 26-year-old Raquel Castro will represent San Jose at the upcoming Miss Costa Rica 2018.

With the memories, but also life lessons that made have made her the passionate, charismatic, versatile and independent woman that defines her today, Raquel has made quite a dream come true career for herself at the pageant world.

The separation of her parents and a lamentable medical diagnosis to her mother, the two saddest situations of her life have not only made her strong but also taught her a lot of important things in life.

My parents separated when I was five years old. He was an alcoholic and the day came when my mom said she could not take it anymore. I motivated him by telling him that he was a person with great abilities and qualities to get ahead and I think that was what helped him to wake up. My father has not taken liquor for about six years.” Raquel proudly says.

At the age of 15, she already started with modelling and beauty contests, but before that, she had to finish high school and choose a university career which she chose Physical Education.

Fond of the ballroom, belly dance, swimming, yoga, Pilates and modelling, Raquel was admitted to the national competition because of her vast experience. Among other contests she has won are - Miss Costa Ballena (2009), Miss Expo PZ (2010), Miss Summer (2016), as well as the international Miss Summer America and Best Body, also in 2016.
