The reigning Miss Earth, Katherine Espin recently graced the State of the Nation Address of the President Rodrigo Duterte. She was spotted at the red carpet wearing a beautiful black ‘terno’designed by Oliver Tolentino.
Katherine joined Isabela Governor Tonypet Albano. Apart from being the Ambassadress for Department of Tourism, Miss Earth 2016 Katherine Espin is an honorary member of the Vice Governors League of the Philippines as well.
She said, “I’m very honored to be attending the SONA,” she said in an interview with ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual.
“I want to hear, of course, great news from the President because I believe he’s been working a lot of the country… and the environment, of course.”
Katherine has been fulfilling her duties as a true Miss Earth by attending various events and charities whole-heartedly. She also had a controversial win in last year’s Miss Earth pageant. The country’s representative in Miss Earth 2016, Imelda Schweighart, previously accused Espin of wearing the gown designed for her.
Schweighart, who failed to make it to the Top 16, apologized for her “unmindful statements” and later on resigned as Miss Philippines Earth. Espin thanked Filipinos for supporting her during the controversy.
She recently attended the National Blood Donor’s Month event along with Angelia Ong and Jamie Harrell. Katherine will crown her successor at the Miss Earth beauty pageant slated to be held on 4th November 2017.
