Karen Ibasco opened the first “Kasugbong Kalibutan” International Climate Change Conference today at the M Grand Royale Resort in Catbalogan City, Samar, Philippines. The President of Philippines ‘Rodrigo Duterte’ also graced the event as the Guest of Honour.

Karen opened the event with a powerful speech and she addressed the people saying, “The Philippines is quite vulnerable to climate change and I am convinced that climate change is a reality. That is why I am using this platform to share my voice as Miss Earth 2017.”

Karen is a scientist herself and being a physicist, she believes in science and how it can be used to make the environment better. She proved the same when she said, “As a scientist, it is my duty to put the use of science in this endeavour. Every year more and more scientific research has shown that global warming is a reality and a direct result of human activities.”

According to her, only a collective approach can make a difference, “I hope this conference can be maximized to share niche and everyone’s expertise to help better understand the steps to be taken. Together our collective knowledge will reach for the wider range of audience to come to a common ground of understanding and share the same vision that will result in a collective action and make a difference not just for the current generation but also for the generations to come.”

Concluding her speech she recited the famous lines from the final night of Miss Earth 2017, “I do believe that our micro efforts will have a macro effects to help save our Home, our Planet, our Earth,” she was a ball of energy in this event, who aimed at inspiring the youth for this noble cause.

Capturing the best shot is a pre-requisite but this is very apt to show to everyone that climate change is a reality. I am honored to attend the international climate change conference in Catbalogan, Samar. It’s quite timely to make a stand with what the whole world is experiencing and spreading awareness to be put into action. I am convinced that climate change is happening, that is why I am maximizing this platform to share my voice as Miss Earth. As a scientist, it is my heart to represent the scientific community in this endeavor. I believe that the data and results of different studies are made credible and converging into the same conclusion. I am here to reach out and engage a wider range of audience for all of us to have a common ground of knowledge and understanding and share the same vision in helping transition our Earth from what it is now to a greener future before it’s too late. Together our collective action will make a difference not just for this generation but also for the generations to come. -Miss Earth 2017 #MissEarth #MissEarth2017 #missearth #ME #beautyqueen #advocate #bethechange #empoweringwomen #empowerment #photoftheday #bestoftheday #environment #beautiesforacause #responsibility #awarenessinaction #ecowarrior #earthwarrior #teamphilippines #philippines #fashion #style #look #lookbook #pageant #ForThePhilippines
