Karen Ibasco opened the first “Kasugbong Kalibutan” International Climate Change Conference today at the M Grand Royale Resort in Catbalogan City, Samar, Philippines. The President of Philippines ‘Rodrigo Duterte’ also graced the event as the Guest of Honour.
Karen opened the event with a powerful speech and she addressed the people saying, “The Philippines is quite vulnerable to climate change and I am convinced that climate change is a reality. That is why I am using this platform to share my voice as Miss Earth 2017.”

She proved the same when she said, “As a scientist, it is my duty to put the use of science in this endeavour. According to her, only a collective approach can make a difference, “I hope this conference can be maximized to share niche and everyone’s expertise to help better understand the steps to be taken. Together our collective knowledge will reach for the wider range of audience to come to a common ground of understanding and share the same vision that will result in a collective action and make a difference not just for the current generation but also for the generations to come.”
Concluding her speech she recited the famous lines from the final night of Miss Earth 2017, “I do believe that our micro efforts will have a macro effects to help save our Home, our Planet, our Earth,” she was a ball of energy in this event, who aimed at inspiring the youth for this noble cause.
