Mariia Rezniuk appointed Miss Earth Belarus 2020

01 Sep 2020 | Priya Bhardwaj

Mariia Rezniuk has been appointed Miss Earth Belarus 2020 and will represent her country at Miss Earth 2020 according to an announcement made just hours ago. She succeeds Miss Earth Belarus 2019 Alice Manyonok who went on to win the title of Miss Earth-Fire 2019 at the finale of Miss Earth 2019. Mariia sure has huge shoes to fill with her predecessor’s big win.

Mariia has the beauty and the brains to be a strong contender at Miss Earth 2020 this year. As her advocacy, she is raising awareness to stop the wastage of paper. She talked about it as she said, “We never think about it, but receipts are actually really bad for the environment. In total, producing paper receipts takes: 250 million gallons of oil, 10 million trees and 1 billion gallons of water and that’s just for one year and only one country.”

Mariia continued, “Imagine what it can do on a long-term run, considering that they also have to be recycled. Only few know, but the ink used also contains harmful chemical called BPA, which can result neurological problems in humans. So, I think it’s time we rethink if it is necessary to ask for one after every purchase and transfer to digital signatures, which will benefit the environment.”

For its 20th year, Miss Earth takes on the theme ‘Eco-Angels’ to underscore the delegates’ role as guardians of nature. Today, more than ever, there is an urgent need to further environmental awareness to address the Earth’s worsening conditions, especially among the youth.

Last year, Alice Manyonok Miss Earth Belarus 2019 represented her country at Miss Earth 2019 where she amazed everyone with her stunning performance and ended up winning the title of Miss Earth-Fire 2019.
