At the grand finale of Miss Earth Japan 2017 held at the Iino Hall in Tokyo, Yasuyo Saito was crowned as the winner. Miss Earth Japan 2016, Ami Hachiya passed on her reign to the winner at the finale. At the same event, Atsumi Tsukamoto was crowned as Miss Air Japan 2017, Kasumi Hayakawa was crowned as Miss Water Japan 2017 and Miori Narita was crowned as Miss Fire Japan 2017.

Fukuoka’s Yasuyo will now represent Japan at the prestigious Miss Earth beauty pageant which will be held on 4th November 2017 in the Philippines. The 21-year-old model defeated 13 other talented finalists from the country. After passing several rounds, she was selected by the jury to represent Japan at the international stage.

Before the finale, the contestants underwent various rigorous training and park clean up sessions to promote the Miss Earth cause of safeguarding the environment. The delegates also worked on environmental issues dressed in green outfits, because green denotes “Green Environment, healthy environment.”

Japan has never won Miss Earth title as yet. In the year 2011 and 2012, Japan managed to reach in top 16 and in the year 2010, Marina Kishira was placed in top 10. Ami Hachiya won the award for Best National costume (Asia and Oceania) last year at Miss Earth pageant.

Do you think Yasuyo Saito will be able to bring any placement for Japan this year at Miss Earth?
