Kosovo’s Vonesa Alijaj drops out of Miss Earth 2021

21 Sep 2021 | Camilla Suarez

Miss Earth Kosovo 2021 Vonesa Alijaj has announced her withdrawal from the upcoming 21st edition of Miss Earth pageant. She will no more be joining and representing Kosovo at the international platform. She mentioned, “I am sad to announce that I am not going to compete in this edition of Miss Earth. Hopefully next year if everything goes well. I wish all the girls good luck. Stay safe and healthy.”

While the reason of her dropping out of the pageant are yet to be declared, it is being speculated that the decision has been made due to health related concerns. She was definitely one for the strongest contenders for the title this year. Hailing from Gjakova, Vonesa is 25-years-old and graduated from high school, and works as an educator with children. She was extremely excited about taking over the crown duties as Miss Earth Kosovo 2021 and preparing for the international competition.

Vonesa is fluent in five languages, including French, German, English, Luxembourgish, and Spanish, and believes that it’s good to know so many languages as it helps in learning different cultures and traditions. She has always been courageous and passionate about beauty pageants as she believes that beauty pageants bring in a lot of opportunities for a beauty queen to work on. She is a strong, confident, and determined woman.

She was elected as Miss Luxembourg 2015, which helped her to gain confidence, strength, and courage to work hard and stay dedicated to her dreams. She currently works with children and describes, "My job as a child educator is to give them important values for their future. They make me happy when I see the faces of children who trust me. From my own experiences, I knew myself and my limits."

The Miss Universe Albania Organization, which holds the license to crown Miss Universe Kosovo along with Miss Universe Albania, is yet to address her withdrawal, or whether they will be electing another representative for Miss Earth 2021.

Miss Earth 2021 will be the 21st edition of the Miss Earth pageant. This is the second time that the pre-pageant activities and coronation night will be conducted virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. At the end of the event, Miss Earth 2020 Lindsey Coffey of the United States will crown her successor.
