The organization of Miss Earth Mexico hosted the coronation night for Miss Earth Mexico 2021 a few hours ago, where eco-angels from all over the country competed for the national crown and earn the chance to represent Mexico at Miss Earth 2021. Natalia Duran of Tamaulipas was crowned as the new queen at the end of the event. Apart from the new queen, the organization also crowned Indira Pérez Meneses as Miss Earth Mexico 2022 to represent the country at next year’s international pageant.

23 years-old from Veracruz, Indira Pérez, originally from Las Choapas, is a graduate of the Faculty of Communication Sciences. In addition to being crowned as Miss Earth Mexico 2022, she also won silver in the category Best Swimsuit, Best in Evening Gown and Best Ecological Project.

After winning the title, she took to her social media to share, “Hello Veracruz, We will be Mexico before the world, after two years of preparation, many dreams, dedication, perseverance and hours of teamwork paid off. I know that there is a lot of work ahead, but I am sure that with God's help everything will work out in the best way.”

The main motivation of the Miss Earth contest is to promote the care of the environment and ecology, for which the contestants must present projects that propose changes in environmental policies. Mexico gained a position among the Top 5 finalists at Miss Earth 2018 under the delegation of Melissa Flores who was adjudged as the third runner-up.

Next year, Indira will succeed Miss Earth Mexico 2021 Natalia Duran, who will represent the country at the upcoming virtual edition of Miss Earth 2021. Indira will have almost a year to prepare for her international stint and head to Philippines for Miss Earth 2022, details for which are yet to be announced.

Congratulations queen!
