Janelle Nicholas Wright crowned as Miss Earth New Zealand 2016

The grand finale of Miss Earth New Zealand 2016 concluded with the crowning of Janelle Nicholas as the winner. Janelle succeeds Anna Lisa Christiane (Miss Earth NZ 2015), and will now represent New Zealand at the Miss Earth 2016 pageant.

25 years old Janelle is currently working towards a double major in Linguistics and Psychology at the University of Auckland. She aspires to specialise in Speech Pathology. Janelle is not just a beautiful face, but is also an ocean of talent, as she is a learned ballet and jazz dancer. She also loves playing outdoor games, and enjoys travelling to new countries and places.

In addition to winning the coveted title, Janelle also won various other Special Awards including, Most Photogenic, Best in Q&A, and Best in Talent. At the same event, Brooke Craig was adjudged the first runner-up and Hollie Peterson finished as the third runner-up.

Miss Earth New Zealand Pageant aims to - “Raise the awareness of environmental issues not only around the world but also those within New Zealand. And to furthermore, develop young leaders skills that help build, protect, and sustain New Zealand’s wildlife and eco-system”.

The Miss Earth New Zealand beauty pageant is carried out to assure that each contestant is not just physically beautiful, but environmentally knowledgeable as well.
