Sophie Anderton, 18, is already the reigning Miss Earth Nottinghamshire, and is now hoping to edge out the competition in the national final. She has created an Amazonian warrior outfit in a bid to win the crown of Miss Earth England 2017.

Sophie created the warrior-inspired outfit by using as many earthly materials as she could. She believes her costume creation could prove the key to standing out from the crowd. Indeed, the costume is well designed and unique in its own way.

She said: "I used an old bikini as a base, and some animal print shorts for the bottom. I wanted to re-use as many materials as I could”, “I have based the outfit on an Amazonian warrior to symbolize being a strong and powerful woman, and I will be making a Green Goddess board to promote an environmental cause, campaign or message I support on stage at the final”.

Sophie had previously competed in the Miss England competition and made it through the semi-final - but was ultimately unsuccessful. But she didn't let this set her back and was scouted by the Miss Earth pageant via social media to take part in that competition too.

From her application only, she was crowned as Miss Earth Nottinghamshire 2017 in June and was automatically placed in the final of the Miss Earth England 2017. Now she is hoping to win the title of Miss Earth England and further compete at international level.

"I would like to be a good role model, as it's not just about the stereotypical idea of beauty pageants, it's about being a good role model to young girls in the community”’ Sophie furthur mentioned.

The finals will be hosted at the Burlington Hotel in Birmingham on Saturday (July 15).
