Sarah Laura Peyrel distributes 100 trees at the 10th Anniversary of My Blue Planet

Miss Earth is the only pageant that dedicates its project towards the climatic problems and issues, and unlike other international pageants, the Miss Earth is the only contest that encourages its contestants and winners to work for environmental benefit. In the recent months, the Miss Earth pageant has garnered much popularity, all thanks to the newly crowned Miss Earth 2016 Katherine Espin.

Along with the reigning queen, the national winners are also working their bit towards the Mother Earth. Miss Earth Switzerland 2017 Sarah Laura Peyrel recently distributed 100 trees during the 10th anniversary of My Blue Planet. The 21 year old beauty was crowned Miss Earth Schweiz 2017 in February 2017, and since then has been dedicatedly working toward making the Earth a better place to live. Sarah represents the organization as the Environmental and Social Ambassador.

After winning the title of Miss Earth Schweiz 2017, Sarah said, “We young people in particular are responsible for our future. With my application and now as Miss Earth Switzerland, I also want to motivate others to think more sustainably and to act more sustainably at the end of the day. Therefore, I take the choice of course and look forward to a turbulent as well as eventful year).

The art and design student has been working for a cause that promotes the cause, “stop wasting food.” She has been engaged in various social causes as well. The girl has big dreams for her country and dreams of making it a better place to live, especially for girls. Sarah also aspires to campaign against child labour and for fair working conditions in the textile industry. According to the Miss Earth Schweiz Organizers, several hundred young women from all over Switzerland applied for the contest. Out of all the entries, only nine were shortlisted to compete.

The Miss Earth Schweiz Organisation has also been making sure to follow their organisational advocacies. The organisation supports The Race for Water Foundation. The Race for Water Foundation initiated an environmental sailing expedition in 2015 to draw the first global assessment of plastic pollution in the oceans. The aim was to collect scientific datas and to meet local population to understand how they currently deal with this huge issue.
