Miss Earth USA 2020 will be the 16th edition of the Miss Earth USA pageant which is going to host its pageant at South Point Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas from 13th – 19th July 2020. Emani Davis was crowned Miss Earth USA 2019, but due to the pageant protocol, Davis had to give up her national title as she became Miss Earth Air 2019 at Miss Earth 2019. Then, the first runner-up Libby Hill, who competed as Miss Earth Gulf Coast USA 2019, inherited the title of Miss Earth USA 2019 and will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
Skylee Lawton hails from Red Creek and is representing the state of New York at Miss Earth USA 2020 has caught the attention of pageant fanatics as one of the potential winners for the title of Miss Earth USA 2020. Skylee is 23-years-old and stands 167 cm tall. She a degree in Public Relations/ Image Management from State University of New York College at Oswego, and Associate degree Public Relations, Advertising, Applied Communication from Monroe Community College. She works as a dancer teacher at Shear Inspiration Dance Company and a professional model.
Skylee is very proud of representing New York at Miss Earth USA 2020 and believes that she will be able to win the title and represent USA at Miss Earth 2020 pageant. The diva is new pageantry but has shown immense determination to win the title and has become fan’s favourite. She is passionate about fashion, traveling and being close to nature. She decided to participate in the competition as she felt that the platform was the right step in order to take her initiative forward and reach a wider audience.
The diva will use the platform to talk about #ThinkUp- Turn Trash into Treasure which is an an up-cycling educational program that aims to teach others about the benefits of up-cycling, and environmental conservation. She states that “Together we will restore our planet and protect the future of our home”. She stated that we need to look at the resourced we already have before purchasing the new ones. This project is about reducing how much clothes one buys. She further stated, “You create biggest and better things instead of giving money to corporations who are giving you more.”
During her stint at Miss New York USA 2020, Skylee met Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst and was so inspired by her energy and knowledge about the beauty pageants. She posted a picture on her social media and stated that she was able to talk about the importance of mental health education with Cheslie and she feels that her interaction with Cheslie will help her in the future.
Skylee is also an advocate for Mental Health as she feels that people don’t give their mental health much importance and she would use to platform to remind them that it is equally important. She likes to talk about the importance of the mental health and ways people can cope up with the same.
In her recent interview, the diva shared that the competition of Miss Earth USA 2020 is based on six areas; Social media challenge, the photogenic, introduction video, interview competition, on-stage question and answer and finally the gown competition. She is focusing on her interview round because according to her, if she doesn’t do well in her interview round, there is no way she is going forward in the competition and thus, she is working on her interview and communication skills.
Skylee’s dedication towards winning the title can be seen by the fact that the gown she wore when she was crowned Miss New York Earth USA 2020 competition was designed by Ashley Albanez out of completely recycled materials such as upcycled fabrics and CDs. After being voted in a public voting that was held Skylee mentioned that, “I am just so beyond blessed and thankful for this opportunity. I am so excited that I get to spend the next year representing our amazing state”. The diva also thanked her family and friends for supporting and motivating her for following her passion.
With her hard work and dedication to win the title of Miss Earth USA 2020, Skylee from Red Creek representing New York can be a tough competition. She is very confident, gorgeous and very determined to win. While practicing social distancing, the diva is also prepping herself for the main event and carrying out her advocacy in her hometown.
