Natasha Suri is an Indian Actor, supermodel who rose to fame when she was crowned Femina Miss India in 2006. She also won 'Miss Beautiful Smile' and 'Miss Personality' titles in the Femina Miss India pageant. Natasha later went onto represent India at Miss World 2006 on 30th September 2006 at the Sala Kongresowa where she was placed at Top 17 at the event finale.
After the pageant when Natasha was asked about her not being able to enter the top positions, she said "I reached the last 17 semi-finalists, that itself is a big achievement for me. It is no mean achievement to reach the semi-final round. Frankly speaking, my chances to wear the Miss World crown were hardly 1 per cent as I was competing with 105 other aspirants. Only one must be the winner.”
Before entering Miss India, she had won several other beauty contests like the Navy Queen, Miss Maharashtra, and Get Gorgeous-1 on Channel V's National supermodel hunt. In 2006 the President of Sri Lanka felicitated her for her role as an Indian ambassador during her tenure as Miss India. Her experience at walking on-stage and winning beauty contests gave her the edge, poise and confidence to succeed. Suri was a huge favourite in the Miss World competition drawing the 'Highest' number of votes from all around the globe along with Miss Venezuela to win the contest. She was defined as one of the 'Finest' and 'Most-Deserving' Indian winners in a decade, to be sent to an International beauty pageant, by the International press.
In one of her interviews she was asked about how did she decided to enter the Femina Miss World 2006 pageant “I was always into beauty and Miss India contest just provided a platform for my career. Even Get Gorgeous-1 (a model hunt reality show conducted by Channel V) was a great platform as I got more exposure through it,” said Natasha.
Natasha was discovered by India's ace lensman Atul Kasbekar who introduced her as 'One of the most beautiful faces of 2006' in the Annual 'Canon Calendar' and proudly featured her as a 'Stunner' in the 'Cosmopolitan' magazine in the first year of her career. Atul described Natasha in the calendar as, “Natasha Suri defines the term 'Photogenic'. She moves like a Goddess. The camera absolutely and completely loves her. She has singularly the most amazing waist in the country”. She is described by Industry stalwarts as a dusky beauty having an incredible hour glass body (her tiny waist measures only 23 inches) with a strikingly beautiful and expressive face to match, along with loads of oomph, poise, class and tremendous sex-appeal.
The Mumbai-born Natasha Suri has completed her BA in Management from Jai Hind College and has worked in a garments export business. After fulfilling her duties as Miss India 2006, Natasha modelled for top Indian designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Rana Gill, Shantanu and Nikhil, Narendra Kumar, Suneet Verma and Rina Dhaka and has done print campaigns for magazines like Elle, Femina and Man's World. Natasha debuted as an actor in 2016 with the superhit Malyalam film King Liar with south Indian superstar Dileep. In 2016, Suri was listed in Maxim’s list of 100 hottest women. She was also part of few others movies and shows like “SuperDude”, “Style Police”, “Big Switch” etc. Natasha has also hosted Lady Gaga’s exclusive interview with Shah Rukh Khan for Indian Grand Prix.
Rupali Suri who is Natasha’s sister was also interested in modelling and kept participating in modelling activities for different designers. Soon after completing her studies, she continued her passion and profession of modelling and participated in Gladrags Mega Model contest in the year 2006. The same year Rupali went onto represent India at Miss Tourism 2006 and was appreciated for her performance during the competition. She went onto be a theatre actor with plays like ‘Bottoms Up, Biwi O Biwi’ and host.
Both Suri sisters have made a name for themselves in the Bollywood as well as beauty pageant industry and are applauded for their stint in beauty pageant world. Natasha and Rupali dominated the year 2006 by performing exceptionally well at their respective beauty pageants. They not only made their family proud but also the country which is why they are remembered with such delightful memories.
