Miss Eco International Sierra Leone announced the winner for the title of Miss Eco International Sierra Leone 2022 in early September this year. Fatmata Sowa won the title of Miss Eco International Sierra Leone 2022 and became the first ever representative of the country at the Miss Eco International pageant.

Fatmata is currently a student at the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) University where she is pursuing a degree in Applied Accounting. She is no stranger to the world of pageantry, previously she competed in Miss Sierra Leone 2019 competition where she remained unplaced.

Fatmata advocacies for recycle education and practice. She feels strongly about waste management and protecting the environment. Encouraging people to be more ecologically responsible, she took to her social media and urged, “Recycling is a very important factor in our daily lives. To reduce ecological footprint and make a positive impact, we must reduce the amount of waste we produce. Make it an habit of buying reusables. Be sure to recycle plastic bottles, and other recyclable materials. Recycling helps preserve resources and reduces air and water pollution. It also saves space in our overcrowded landfills. I encourage you to become a recycling rockstar by recycling as much as you can and knowing the rules that comes with it. This is a very important aspect of environmental safety and will create an impact in society if thought in schools. I believe If students are educated about the impact and importance of proper environmental safety measures, it will aid them to make responsible choices.”

The 7th version of Miss Eco International will take place in March 2022 in Egypt, where delegates from more than 30 countries and autonomous territories will compete for the international title and crown for two weeks.
