Miss Ecuador organization has officially revealed the candidates who will compete for the title of Miss Ecuador 2019 at the finale expected to be held on 19th July 2019 in Machala. El Oro. According to the director of the Miss Ecuador organization, María del Carmen de Aguayo, Machala was once again chosen as the venue to host Miss Ecuador given its development and progress. The candidates were presented to the guests and the media at an event held in Hotel Oro Verde Machala on 26th February 2019, where the candidates introduced themselves on stage.

The twenty-one candidates will participate in several events and activities prior the finale including Best National Costume, and at the finale, the winner will be crowned by the reigning queen Miss Ecuador 2018 Virginia Limongi. The winner will then go on to represent Ecuador in Miss Universe 2019, while the first runner-up will be Ecuador’s representative in Miss International 2019. Besides, some other runners-up will also be sent to compete in Miss Grand International 2019 as well as other international beauty pageants of significance.

Miss Ecuador beauty pageant is the most significant pageant in the country. This national pageant seeks to look out for the most beautiful young women of the nation who with their talent, beauty and hard work can represent Ecuador at international pageants. Miss Ecuador pageant commenced in 1955 when Leonor Carcache Rodríguez became the first ever Miss Ecuador and went on to represent Ecuador at Miss Universe 1955.

Ever since then, Ecuador has sent its representatives to Miss Universe in most of the editions of the international pageant. It does come as a surprise that having crowned so many gorgeous queens for so many years, Ecuador has never won any Miss Universe title. When it comes to the participation in Miss International, Ecuador has won the title once in the year 2011, when María Fernanada Cornejo was crowned Miss International 2011 at the finale of the event held in Chengdu, China.
