Shane Tormes was crowned Miss Global 2022 at the finale night held on 11th June 2022 held in Bali, Indonesia. Tormes is the first Filipina beauty queen to take home the international crown along with winning best in talent award. She is a Filipino singer, model and beauty queen from Atimonan, Quezon, Philippines.
Shane Tormes, full name Marie Sherry Ann ‘Shane’ Quintana Tormes, was raised by her grandparents. Standing 5 feet 6 inches tall, Shane is not new to the pageantry as she was adjudged Miss Rizal 2016 and Miss Bicolandia 2016 third runner-up. In 2017, Shane competed at Miss Earth Philippines 2017 but remained unplaced.
In 2018, Shane competed in Binibining Pilipinas 2018 at the Smart Arena Coliseum in Quezon City where she won Best in Talent and Miss Friendship awards and finished in the Top 25. Next year in 2019, she again tried her luck at Binibining Pilipinas 2019 where she again finished in Top 25.
In 2020, Shane represented Atimonan at Miss Philippines Earth 2020 and finished fourth winning the Miss Earth Philippines Fire 2020 crown. In November 2021, Shane was appointed Miss Global Philippines 2021. In December, Shane’s mother passed away due to cancer but the stunning beauty made sure she won the crown for her mother and she did it.
She also took to her official social media to reveal her emotions and thank everyone for their support. She wrote, “Thank you so much Lord and my dearest Mama for guiding me all throughout this journey. To Miss Global for entrusting me the Pink Lotus crown, thank you so much for believing in me. My dearest fellow Queens and sisters I appreciate all of you. May we continue to be empowered and empowering others.”
“My Miss Global Philippines family this is ALL FOR YOU! I’m still really on a cloud nine. Things are so surreal. My golden crown gives me so much butterflies on my stomach. Sending my love and so much gratitude to my family and everyone of you who reminded me everyday that I am worth it. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat! Mabuhay po ang PILIPINAS”, she added.
The organization which canceled both of its 2020 and 2021 editions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, crowned both their 2021 and 2022 queens during the finals night. The 2021 Miss Global crown was awarded to UAE’s Jessica Da Silva who is the first single mother to win an international beauty pageant for single women.
