The beauty competition was held keeping all the covid-19 safety norms in mind and the beauty queens had already completed their 14-days quarantine period. Miss Grand International 2019 Valentina Figuera crowned her successor at the end of the event finale.
Before the winner was announced the five delegates; Miss Grand United States of America 2020 Abena Appiah, Miss Grand Philippines 2020 Samantha Mae Bernardo, Miss Grand Guatemala 2020 Ivana Batchelor, Miss Grand Indonesia 2020 Aurra Kharishma, and Miss Grand Brazil 2020 Lala Guedes were put to a grilling question and answer round which was their last chance to impress the judges and the audience with their intelligent and witty answers. Let’s look at the final question asked to the Top 5 finalists for the title of Miss Grand International 2020 and the exceptionally well-defined answers by them.
The divas were asked, “With the current Covid-19 situation between shutting down the country for the safety of the people knowing that the country economic will collapsed and open the country to keep economic running and taking the risk of Covid-19 consequences. Which will you choose and why?”
Miss Grand United States of America 2020 Abena Appiah was the first one to answer the question and stated, “I believe in proper solution and whenever there is a problem, we should sit down and find a proper solution. I would shut down the country because I believe that people come first; my people. If I was the governor/president of my country, I would do what is right for my people and by shutting down the country will give me proper time to analyse on what is going on and provide for my people and I would shut down the country.”
Miss Grand Philippines 2020 Samantha Mae Bernardo was the second one to answer the question and she replied, “I will always choose the people because without its people, the country will never be a country. We would never be Philippines without the Filipinos; you will never be Thailand without Thai so it is must that we should take care of the people first. I stand here for love, peace, and unity. There will always be a solution no matter what the problem is and if we come together as people as one united world, we can have a better place to live in. I hope after the pandemic ends, we can be a better citizen.”
Miss Grand Brazil 2020 Lala Guedes was the third one to answer the question and she started her answer by, “I know that for our society we need economy, but we cannot go anywhere without health and that’s why I choose to study medicine. So, it’s my duty to defend people’s health so, of course I would choose to stay home and then once we control this pandemic, we’ll be able to work again and get money again and get our business back up again. If we help each other, stay together, we can help each other to get our business back up but health is not easy. Take care of yourself.”
Miss Grand Indonesia 2020 Aurra Kharishma was the fourth one to answer the common asked question, and she said, “I would rather choose to close the country and focus on the people and organize everything clearly and using the platform as Miss Grand International 2020 I believe that we can spread positivity as we can go outside but still touch the lives of each other and I am ready to serve Miss Grand International.”
Miss Grand Guatemala 2020 Ivana Batchelor was the last one to answer the question and she said, “Nothing in this world has more value than a human life and without hesitation I would choose to shut down the country. Without its people, the economy is useless. If we come together and care for one another and work hard nothing can stop us; not even a pandemic not a war because we as humans are resilient.”
The divas sounded confident and strong while answering the questions and managed to impress everyone with their impactful answers.
