Miss Peru organization, through their social media, announced yesterday that Janet Leyva has been crowned Miss Grand Perú 2022 and will now represent her country at Miss Grand International 2022. She succeeds Miss Grand Perú 2021 Samantha Batallanos.

Janet was crowned by none other than Miss Grand International 201 Nguyen Thúc Thùy Tiên and the director of Miss Grand International Nawat Itsaragrisil in a private ceremony. Here is the official video of Janet’s coronation –

Janet is 25 years of age and stands 182 cm tall. Through her reign, Janet wishes to help the disadvantaged children. She works with RD Producciones de Moda Escuela & Agencia de Modelos since 2011 and is fluent in English and Spanish languages.

Not new to the pageantry, Janet represented Callao in Miss Peru 2018 and was in the top five and that led her to the international pageant Top Model of the World 2018 where she was crowned as the new queen. She has started modelling at the age of 13 when her mother drove her to audition for Miss Teen Model 2011 and she won. Since then, Janet has been a part of fashion and modelling industry and paraded for international designers.

Last year, at Miss Grand International 2021, Miss Grand Perú 2021 Samantha Batallanos represented her country but unfortunately failed to place in the Top 21. However, Samantha was one of the winners of the Best in National Costume award and was highly appreciated for the performance. Peru holds one Miss Grand International crown under its belt; María José Lora was crowned Miss Grand International in 2017.
