The Miss Grand Thailand organization hosted an intimate coronation ceremony for the newly appointed Indy Johnson as Miss Grand Thailand 2021. An emotional and excited Indy Johnson was officially crowned by Miss Grand Thailand 2020 Patcharaporn Chantarapadit as she will now head to represent Thailand at Miss Grand International 2021 in December.

The organization has recently revealed Indy’s national costume, ‘Tosaphak Anongnat Pilat Duangruthai’, for the international platform. The costume is inspired by the Ramayana literature, the episode, ‘Hanuman lifts the box of hearts’, showcasing the giant Tosakan, being angry with Hanuman the ape who managed to steal his heart box.

Designed and sewed by Palangkoon dress room, the costume is presented in the form of a contemporary pantomime, ornately decorated with crystals. It conveys the strength of the giant serpent through the wearer, applied to the puppetry of Hanuman in the pose of ‘Khon Loy Khon’, which is one of the battle stances of high-class dances with elegance. It is also considered as an invaluable cultural heritage of Thailand.

Stepping into the shoes of Miss Grand Thailand 2020 Patcharaporn Chantarapadit, who made the country proud as she finished among the Top 10 finalists at Miss Grand International 2020, earlier this year, Indy Johnson definitely has high responsibilities and benchmarks to match.

Indy was adjudged as the first runner-up at Miss Grand Thailand 2020. Hailing from the city of Bangkok, Indy stands 175 cm tall and has graduated with a degree from Bangkok University. Not new to the industry, Indy participated in The Face Thailand Season 2 but unfortunately, didn’t make it to the final rounds. Indy is a strong supporter and advocate of self-love as well as women empowerment.

She has always tried to uplift the women especially the young girls who are looking for a role model to inspire them and motivate them to take steps for their future. Indy wants to be a positive and impactful role model for women who look up to and she has always tried to be positive and humble towards everyone.

As Thailand is yet to pioneer its win for the golden crown, Indy is indeed a strong bet the country at this year’s edition of the international pageant. Indy’s experience, skills and confidence along with the mesmerizing national costume will definitely make her one of the strongest contenders this year.
