20 year old Julie Kuo has been crowned as Miss Hawaii USA 2017 and she will have the opportunity to represent her state Hawaii at the prestigious Miss USA 2017 to be held in the month of June 2017. Elated by her big win, Julie says, “My goal is to ride the momentum and open as many doors as I can, and focus on the Miss USA pageant.

Born in Taiwan, Julie moved to Honululu at a very early age. She completed her graduation from the University of Hawaii in accounting. Fact being told, she never thought of becoming a pageant girl, but it happened by chance. Julie says, “I was at a point in my life I just graduated and, I was like, “Ok, what’s next?”” A customer at the restaurant suggested her to participate in the pageant, and that’s when her modeling journey started. A tomboy by nature, it was pretty tough for her to learn the art of modeling, but she did it to her perfection.

The pageant was held on 6th November, 2016 at the Hawaii Convention Center and she succeeds Chelsea Hardin, who was the 1st runner-up at the Miss USA 2016 pageant. The state of Hawaii is one of the newest entrants in the Miss USA pageant and also one of the most successful. There have been a whopping four Miss USA winners from Hawaii itself, and Julie is determined to bring the coveted crown to her state this June.
