Miss World India 2019 Suman Rao has launched her Beauty with a Purpose project – ‘Project Pragati’ and we’re in awe of her. She talked about how her project came into being as she explained how women are treated differently than men. Women have always been shown as the weaker sex and are portrayed as someone who always need help.

Trying to break this stereotype, Rao has launched this initiative that aims to give women financial independence through employment in artifacts and handicrafts industry. She has definitely proven that together, anything can be achieved.

Rao took to her official social media to reveal her project as she wrote, “Today, I officially launch my #BeautyWithAPurpose Project, #ProjectPragati! This aims to give women financial independence through employment in artifacts and handicrafts industry! I’m hopeful that through this project, I will be able to empower these women and make sure they rise above the societal definition of ‘Women’.”

For her advocacy, she has gone back to her roots, her home in Aaidana to change the mindsets to empower women, to make them believe in themselves. She wants them to realize that there are lots of opportunities available for them and thus she talked to them about how Project Pragati will help them to grab the opportunities available and make them financially independent.
