Miss Intercontinental Netherlands 2018 will soon hold its grand finale to find out who of the twelve announced contestants will be taking over Miss Intercontinental Netherlands 2017 Cathelijne Heppenhuis’ crown. The newly crowned queen will then represent the Netherlands at the Miss Intercontinental 2018 Pageant where Miss Intercontinental 2017 Veronica Salas Vallejo of Mexico will crown her successor.

Netherlands’ last placement at Miss Intercontinental was at last year’s Miss Intercontinental 2017 when Miss Intercontinental Netherlands 2017 Cathelijne Heppenhuis was adjudged Miss Europe and the 2nd runner-up at Miss Intercontinental 2017.

Of all the contestants, we chose 5 that we believe are the ones standing out in the race to the crown currently, and here is the scoop on one of our favourites.

Michelle van Sonsbeek, is a 19 year old living in Denekamp. At the moment she is mainly occupied with her final exams from the Fashion & Design (Junior Stylist) program. In addition to this training, she is working as a model for various promotion companies, which have resulted in many nice assignments.

When Michelle heard her name as the winner of Miss Intercontinental Overijssel 2018, she could not believe her ears at first, and thought to herself, "Oh my god, that's my name!" She even says really had to hold back tears. It was a dream come true for Michelle, However, her biggest dream remains to represent the Netherlands abroad.

her goal through the competition is to, first of all, win the title Miss Intercontinental Netherlands 2018. In addition, with her participation in Miss Intercontinental Netherlands 2018, she hopes to inspire and motivate other girls to participate as well, because she wants to spread the message that, even if you come from a farmers’ village such as Denekamp, ??you can and may certainly pursue these kinds of dreams.

Michelle prefers to spend her free time with her family, friends and boyfriend. She does not really care how that time is spent a long as it’s with them.

On being asked what makes her unique, Michelle says, “I always find these kind of questions a bit of a pain ... But after a moment of thinking, I choose my sobriety. For a piece of inborn and for a bit by raising my parents. As a child Michelle sang everywhere, especially when she was sitting on the toilet, because of this, her time in the toilet lasted longer than was actually necessary and everyone could enjoy her singing, even the neighbors.

Miss Beauty of the Netherlands is the proud owner of Miss Intercontinental Netherlands. This year 12 provincial missions compete for the title of Miss Intercontinental Netherlands. Miss Intercontinental has been around since 1971 and is one of the longest running international elections. Every year the location has a different international venue and there are always around 60 countries. The final will take place this year in November in India.
