Last year Puerto Rico’s Heilymar Rosario Velázquez won the coveted title of Miss Intercontinental 2016 and with this win, she became the third queen from the Island to win this international title after Elizabeth Robinson Miss Intercontinental 1986 and Maydelise Column Miss Intercontinental 2010.
Puerto Rico’s performance in the Miss Intercontinental pageant has been quite impressive. And this year’s representative of Puerto Rico, Josmarie Soto Mercado, dreams and hopes to continue the good work and bring a back-to-back for Puerto Rico.
This model, actress and TV host is 23 years of age and stands tall at an impressive height of 180 cm. She is a marketing student and loves to travel. This laid-back beauty enjoys simple things in life like boat rides & going to movies. She’s got amazing talents like singing, dancing and acting. Her motto in life is ‘Everything in life has a reason for being’.
Josmarie has earlier experience in beauty pageants, as she was the third finalist in Miss World Puerto Rico 2016 and semi-finalist in Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2015.
Sharing her thoughts about facing this challenge, she said, "I know that this experience will be an enriching and unforgettable one with a lot of personal and cultural growth, I thank the organization ‘Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico’ for putting their trust and support in me and above all for allowing me to fulfil one of my most desired dreams, to be an ambassador of Puerto Rico before the world. Perseverance and discipline make us the authors of our dreams.”
All kinds of efforts are being put in order to make Josmarie look scintillating in the competition. She will be dressing for the final gala in a special creation by designer José Manuel Bou.
On the other hand, the president of the Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico organization, Miguel Deliz, mentioned that he feels very proud of Josmarie Soto Mercado’s representation because he knows that “she will put all her experience and effort to maintain the place of Puerto Rico in the international competition.”
With the kind of determination and zeal Josmarie is showing for Miss Intercontinental 2017, we are sure she will do wonders in the competition and make her country proud.
