Miss International 2022 Analysis – Why Philippines’ Hannah Arnold did not make it to the Top 8

Miss International 2022, the 60th edition of Miss International, was held on 13th December 2022 at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan where Germany’s Jasmin Selberg took home the crown. While everyone was happy with the win, there was one shocking elimination made as Top 8 were announced at the finale.

Filipina beauty Hannah Arnold was a crowd favourite ever since the beginning of the competition. At the finale, when Hannah made it to Top 15, the first cut, it was evident that she was there to win the crown. Hannah was also the only Asian delegate to make it to the Top 15 and thus the pressure to not just represent Philippines but also the continent was even more.

There is not exactly one moment that can be pointed to say that yes, it was here that Hannah lost her journey to the crown. She came more than prepared to win yet the title eluded her at the finals. Hannah was supposed to represent Philippines at Miss International 2020 which was then cancelled due to covid-19. Not just that, she had to wait another two years to finally get the chance to represent her country at Miss International.

In pageantry, as pageant fanatics believe, there is one thing such as perfect timing. For Hannah, the perfect timing window, perhaps, was in the year she was prepared to win the crown for her country and lost it in 2022 although it was not like she did not come prepared. Win or lose, however, the Filipino fans have never swerved their support for the beauty queen which made her the only Asian delegate to make it to the Top 15.
