The Miss Iowa USA 2017 took place on October 9, 2016, at the Newton High School Auditorium, where the panel of judges selected Kelsey Weier of West Des Moines as Miss Iowa USA 2017. The beauty will now compete at the MISS USA 2017 pageant.
The beautiful delegate succeeds Alissa Morrison and will now represent Iowa in the upcoming edition of Miss USA, wherein Deshauna Barber of District of Columbia will crown her successor. The pageant had three events: evening gown, swimwear/active wear and interview round.
Kelsey did very well in all the events and was therefore crowned as the Miss Iowa USA 2017. This is what the beauty felt before the crowning, “Part of me was calm just because I put so much time and effort into preparing for this pageant. I wanted it so bad. But another part was a little worried because I thought I killed it in every other part of the competition, but I was just hoping to seal the deal with the final question, so that’s where I was a little nervous.”
The young woman had a fruitful high school career, and after that she took her talents to Iowa City to attend the Salon Professional Academy. Kelsey worked as a hair professional at Rick Mosley Hair where she has been repeatedly applauded for her ability to empower her clients. Kelsey has also raised awareness related to environment through the Audubon Society’s “Trashion Fashion Show” as a model and costume designer.
Kelsey loves researching and cooking more nutrient-sensible alternatives to her favorite dishes which include BLTs, pasta, and seafood. The beauty is very determined and her ambitions as Miss Iowa USA are extensive and beneficial. Kelsey will mainly advocate anti-bullying efforts and measures to help victims cope with the same problems that she had to overcome.
The delegate is excited to represent Iowa at Miss USA 2017. The beauty embodies spirit through all of her life experiences, triumphs, motivations, learning opportunities, and aspirations.
