People all around the world are excited for the upcoming Miss Universe pageant as the destination is Philippines this year. The pageant is going to be held in the country after over two decades, and aside from the venue there is another reason why this year’s Miss Universe pageant will be a historic one.

According to sources, Iran is all set to make its debut at the Miss Universe 2016 pageant. Tourism Undersecretary of Philippines Kat de Castro made the revelation that a representative from Tehran will be among the expected 120 candidates of Miss Universe 2016 pageant.
If the news is true then this will be the first time the country will participate at the pageant. Iran's participation in the Miss Universe pageant comes off the country's landmark nuclear deal with world powers in 2015.
Castro also mentioned that the Philippines is aiming at bringing in local artists to perform at the pageant. She also said that Pia Wurtzbach’s hometown Cagayan de Oro is being eyed on as one of the hosts for major events, among other provinces. "It will be a big boost to our tourism industry," said de Castro.
