Catherine Carmichael was crowned as Miss Kansas USA 2017 during the state finale held on November 27, 2016 at Kansas Star Event Center. Carmichael will head towards representing her state at the 66th Miss USA pageant, wherein Deshauna Barber of District of Columbia will pass on her crown to her successor. The beauty always believed that she owns the Miss Kansas 2017 title. Ecstatic about the title, Carmichael says, “It is surreal for me to win the crown, I am excited for the Miss USA pageant coming up and also I’m excited to work for the state.”

Catherine Carmichael grew up in Manhattan, Kansas, and is a 2014 graduate from the University of Kansas. The beauty used to play volleyball for KU while completing her degree in African and African-American studies with a minor in communication studies. Catherine is currently working as an assistant director of recruiting for the University of Kansas Football Team.
During the coronation gala of Miss Kansas USA 2017, Catherine Carmichael from Manhattan was crowned as the winner, Taylor Schettler from Greater Lawrence was titled as the first runner-up, Rachel Morris from South Overland Park was adjudged as the second runner-up, Alyssa Klinzing from Lenexa was announced as the third runner-up and Cassie Lohmeyer from Greater Wichita finished as the fourth runner up.
In the past, Kansas has won the Miss USA crown only once under the representation of Kelli McCarty back in 1991. No delegate from Kansas has made it as the winner since 1991.
Catherine is really passionate about helping others, especially the homeless. She wants to build homes for those in need. The national pageant contest of Miss USA 2017 will be held in the month of June, and Catherine Carmichael is all prepped up for her major win. Who will be the winner?
