Zhalia Sirwan was the one who stood out among the eleven finalists of the Miss Kurdistan 2016 beauty contest. A coronation event this Thursday crowned Zhalia as Miss Kurdistan 2016. After preparing for the pageant with great dedication, Zhalia finally made her dream come true.

The new crown winner is a 20 year old student at a Sulaimani college. The young title holder from Kurdistan is not only gorgeous but also very talented. The winner was seen in tears of happiness after her coronation.

The event took place as the third Miss Kurdistan pageant at Babylon Hall in Ankawa, Erbil. It was sponsored by Babylon Media and the Kurdistan Tourism Board. The event cost US $350,000, according to Salwan Zaitoun, the Babylon Manager.

Babylon Media’s Operation Manager, Soran Biradosti, disclosed that these eleven finalists were selected from amongst seventy women who applied for the pageant after essential processing of each candidate. There were 12 judges in the panel, who assessed the contestants on the basis of their talents, skills, as well as knowledge, apart from their captivating beauty. The finalists were judged on the basis of international norms to make the best of them the title holder.

The former winners of the pageant have been the Miss Kurdistan 2012, Shene Aziz Ako, and Miss Kurdistan 2013, Fenk Mohammed who adorned the crown of this new national beauty contest of Kurdistan. 2014 and 2015 did not host the pageant.
