The 70th edition of Miss Maryland USA was held on 15th May 2022 at Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland where Caleigh Shade was crowned the new queen at the end of the event finale. She succeeds and was crowned by Miss Maryland USA 2021 Layilah Nasser.

Caleigh Shade gave a stellar performance at the state contest. From Cumberland, she attended Allegany High School in Cumberland. She pursued a double major in communications and political science at Salisbury University in Salisbury. In 2015, she competed at Miss Maryland Outstanding Teen 2015 and was unplaced. In 2017, she competed at Miss Maryland 2017 and was unplaced but she was a preliminary swimsuit winner. In 2018, she represented Maryland at Miss Teen USA 2018 where she finished in Top 15.

Miss Maryland USA 2022 Caleigh Shade’s court included –

1st Runner-up – Kennedy Taylor

2nd Runner-up – Caitlyn Stupi

3rd Runner-up – Ashley Jones

4th Runner-up – Kaylene Robinson

Top 11 also included Amanda Bertholf, Aniya Bradsher, Lydia Frentsos, Mellisa Ikwubuo, Rheyna Washington and Rita Lyakhovetskaya while Top 17 also included Bri’anna Horne, Cassidy Lacey, Kayla Morgan, Morgan Civita, Omnia Shedid and Yazha’e Conway.

Also at the finale, Soniya Krishan was crowned Miss Maryland Teen USA 2022 as she became the official representative of the state at Miss Teen USA 2022. Sanjana Yendluri, Madelyn Posey, Chelsea Chambers and Kendall Brown were adjudged first, second, third and fourth runners-up respectively.
