At the grand coronation night held on 19th November 2018 at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, Annie Lu was crowned Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2019 as she became the official representative of Massachusetts in Miss Teen USA 2019. She succeeds and was crowned by Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2018 Lexi Woloshchuk.
The 18-year-old Annie is currently a freshman at the Harvard University studying Government. She hails from Cambridge and wishes to serve the U.S one day as the Secretary of State. The gorgeous beauty for sure has the beauty and the brains to become the next Miss Teen USA and is a change in society.
Annie also founded an environmental tech start-up at Harvard in addition to BridgEd, an internationally recognized nonprofit organization that bridges the socioeconomic gap in education by providing low-income high school students with free college counselling. At such a young age, she is a global teen leader and recognizes her responsibility in her society.
As an Asian-American woman, Annie celebrates diversity and inspires youth to do their bit towards the world. She is also an advocate for women empowerment and hopes to inspire girls across the nation to be fearlessly themselves while pursuing their goals.
Massachusetts is yet to win its first ever Miss Teen USA title. Under Annie’s delegation, the dream might just come true for the state. The highest placement of the state till now was in 2001 where Marianna Zaslavsky was adjudged the second runner-up. In 2003, Jacqueline Bruno won the third runner-up spot while Sophie Baird was adjudged third runner-up in 2015.
