Miss USA 2018 will hold its finale on 21st May 2018 at the Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana where Miss USA 2017 Kara McCullough will crown her successor from the 51 contestants who will fight for the national title.
But before that, let’s take a look at the top 10 contenders of the national crown who can, in our opinion, represent USA at Miss Universe 2018. In a series of features, we will introduce these wonderful women who definitely have what it takes to win Miss USA 2018.
Kristen Leyva from Las Cruces was crowned Miss New Mexico 2018 on 28th January 2018 and she is one of our most favourite picks for Miss USA 2018.
The 23-year-old diva is a Mechanical Engineer hopes to use the role to inspire children, especially girls, to become engineers and scientists. Her mother was a single parent who became a mechanical engineer, and, in doing so, inspired her daughter to pursue the same career.
Kristen developed the #JustOne program, a reference to the idea that it takes just one role model or mentor to inspire a student to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering or math — STEM. She did this in honour of her mother, who battled with colon cancer and wanted to promote science among young students.

Since her crowning, Miss New Mexico USA 2018 queen has been working with determination and sincerity to not only promote her Just One Program but also to become a frontrunner at the national finale.
