Dinaleigh Baxter was crowned Miss Ohio USA 2017 on November 12, 2016. She will now have the opportunity to represent the state of Ohio at Miss USA 2017. Ohio achieved success in the first decades of the Miss USA competition but has not done well in the recent years. Ohio is one of the only twelve states to win the Miss USA crown twice (Sue Downey in 1965 and Kim Seelbrede in 1981).
Baxter is a 2010 graduate from the North Adams High School and a senior at Northern Kentucky University. She is the owner of Sonic; LLC based in Austin and was recently acknowledged at the NKU's Chase College of Law. Baxter is also the founder of Sisters and Brother Helping Others and enjoys volunteering with the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
Baxter credits her success to her upbringing in a close-knit community and the quality that defines her best is her total devotion and appreciation of her Adams County roots. “Being from Adams County means you don’t have just one set of parents, you have a whole village of parents. Everything I’ve ever learned I learned from the people here in Adams County – they have made me the strong, confident woman I am. I don’t think I would be the same person without Adams County”, says Baxter.
It was Baxter’s third attempt to win the coveted crown and she says she made a decision to use a more honest approach in the competition this year. “Before I did what I thought the judges wanted me to do, and I said what I thought they wanted me to say, but this year I decided to be myself. I wore my hair straight and used very little makeup, and was just very much myself. I told them I came from a small farming community in Adams County, Ohio, and that I went to a high school that had only 86 students in my graduating class. I told them I was just a very average, normal girl with big dreams, and luckily, being myself paid off and I won this year.”

Baxter told that she has got her work ethics from her dad. She really admires how he has worked hard throughout his life to give her mother, her sister and Baxter herself a great life. The beauty is obliged to carry out her duties as the Miss Ohio USA 2017 and is extremely excited about the charity work that she does in partnership with Shirners Children’s Hosipital.
Having achieved her childhood dream of winning a Miss USA pageant, Baxter really looks forward to what the future holds for her. The beauty queen is very determined and says, “This year will be such an amazing experience. I feel like I’m going to have to pinch myself every day to know I’m not dreaming.”
