Elsa Iradukunda crowned as Miss Rwanda 2017

The splendid finale of Miss Rwanda 2017 concluded with the crowning of Elsa Iradukunda, at the finals held at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village. Elsa will now represent Rwanda at the Miss World 2017 pageant. Elsa is a senior six graduate from King David High School, and represented the Northern Province. She has been a favourite for the crown since the beginning.
 
 
In addition to winning the crown, Elsa won a brand new Suzuki Swift. Elsa will also be getting a monthly salary of Rwf 800,000, according to the organisers. At the same pageant, Guelda Shimwa was adjudged first runner-up and Linda Umutoniwase was titled second runner-up. The pageant comprised of a talent show besides the catwalk and question-and-answer sessions. The girls exhibited their talents including dancing, singing and comedy.
 
The Miss Rwanda pageant this year introduced few changes. For the first time in the history of Miss Rwanda pageant, all the 15 finalists were given full scholarships to pursue undergraduate degrees at Mahatma Gandhi University. This year, the pageant aimed at promoting cultural tourism and bringing forth the traditional dance forms of the country. In fact, the final performances included a renowned traditional dance troupe Inganzo Ngari, among other local artistes.
 
Rwanda made its debut at the Miss World pageant in the year 2016, and Elsa Iradukunda is going to be the second representative of the country at the pageant. What do you think of Elsa Iradukunda’s chances at the Miss World 2017 pageant?
