01 Sep 2021 | Camilla Suarez

The Miss Scotland organization recently hosted the coronation ceremony for the 2021 edition at The Corinthian Club in Glasgow, Scotland, where Claudia Todd was crowned Miss Scotland 2021. She will now represent Scotland at the 70th Miss World pageant later this year. Claudia succeeds Miss Scotland 2019 Keryn Matthew for the title.

25 years-old Claudia hails from Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She trained in musical theatre at New College Lanarkshire in Motherwell, Scotland. In 2019, she spent almost 10 months working in Disneyland Paris in Paris, France as a Disney princess, which was her first professional job after years of modeling and performing. Amid the pandemic, Claudia started her own beauty business in Uddingston, Lanarkshire.

In 2018, she survived sepsis in hospital aged 22. Speaking about her sepsis battle, Claudia said, "I’d just done a run of pantos, three shows a day and I became really unwell. I had flu-like symptoms and was rushed to hospital. I collapsed in my house. After two and a half weeks with amazing NHS staff I recovered." The newly crowned is now an ambassador for the UK Sepsis Tust and has been using her platform to raise cash for the charity.

Visibly emotional as her name was announced, Claudia said, "It doesn’t feel real, I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who has supported me and hopefully I can be a good Miss Scotland." She also took to her social media to express her emotions as she wrote, “Dreams really do come true! I woke up as Miss Scotland 2021, I am genuinely speechless! Thank you to everyone who has wished me well for the future. I am honored and grateful to represent such a great country.”

Todd also mentioned, “This has been my dream since I was a little girl, and now that it has come true it is definitely a pinch me moment! I am so lucky to have met such a great group of girls, thank you for your kind messages. You have all been truly supportive. The whole Miss Scotland 2021 journey has been truly wonderful and I am so looking forward to this year ahead as your Miss Scotland 2021.”

For Claudia, to be crowned Miss Scotland 2021 is a true honor and she wish to use her platform to inspire the younger generation that dreams really can come true. Speaking about her plans as Miss Scotland, she shared, "To me it means so many things. You can empower young people, especially on social media. Nowadays social media has such a detrimental effect on young people’s lives and I believe as Miss Scotland you could make a positive platform."

Congratulations queen!
