09 Dec 2020 | Ana Walia

The organization of Miss Seychelles-The National Pageant has crowned Kelly-Mary Anette as the new Miss Seychelles 2020 as she becomes the official representative of the country for Miss International 2020. She was crowned during the Miss Seychelles National Pageant at the International Conference Centre of Seychelles (ICCS). The Seychelles has made a comeback at Miss International after 25 years and Kelly is very excited to take over the crown duties.

Hailing from the eastern district of Pointe Larue; Kelly is 24-years-old and has studied Economics and Finance at Taylors University, and is currently working as an economist with the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Trade. She believes that losing her mother as a teenager has taught her to be resilient as at the age of 14, she found herself a mother figure to her younger siblings.

After winning the crown, she stated, “I feel emotional and very happy. It wasn’t an easy journey as it lasted for 11 months – the longest Miss Seychelles journey ever. I thank all the individuals who have helped me in a way or another. Without their support, I would not have been able to get the crown.”

Miss Seychelles 2020 Kelly Mary’s court includes:

First Runner-up: Shannen Henrie

Second Runner-up: Elsia Françoise

Kelly explains that “grace, dignity, elegance and ethics are all of the self-moulding virtues to carry the Miss Seychelles crown, along with her life experiences and challenges.” The diva has already started working on her project for the pageant which is devoted to the psychological and emotional well-being of orphans and single parents, especially those whose loved ones have died.

“I have already created my foundation that will create focus groups for semi orphans so that they do not feel alone after the passing of their parents. We will cater to the psychological wellbeing and classes such as decision-making skills,” explained Anette. She further added that being able to find oneself and discovering her purpose which is self-growth is one of the things she is proud of and now carrying a crown as Miss Seychelles 2020 feels like an honour and a responsibility which she wants to be proud of.

Kelly dedicated her crown to her late mother and has assured that she will perform her best at the Miss International 2020 competition and would make the people of Seychelles proud. She is confident, strong, and determined which would help her throughout her journey. “You owe to yourself the best version you can be, thus, be the change you wish to see” is diva’s life motto

Congratulations!
