People flooded Facebook with their nasty comments after seeing the pictures of Miss Singapore 2017 beauty pageant contestants.  Now, Organizers have raised their voice in support of contestants of Miss Singapore.

It was really hurtful for the contestants to read such comments but the girls said, “What does not kill them only makes them stronger”.

Singaporean finalist Tricia Koh, a 24-year-old financial adviser, told The Sunday Times: "They say we learn from the pain, I say we gain from it."She furthur added that it is easy to make such comments under the cloak of anonymity that the Internet provides, but it takes a lot of courage for a girl to go up on stage and let people judge her."

Facebook user, Nadiyah Purinalso said that Singaporean should have instead showed support to the contestants. “They may not be professional models but there is body confidence right there, and instead of supporting them as local talents, we locals, body shame them”.

Meanwhile, former Miss Universe Singapore 2002 Nuraliza Osman, 40, said, beauty is highly subjective and there will always be criticism when pageant contestants step into the limelight, so as to motivate them and prove the audience wrong.

It was reported that Juban was not an official photographer hired by the organiser and they have no idea who he was. It was also reported that the unofficial photo was taken by a member of the public when the pageant was doing a talent and fashion showcase at One KM mall.

Passing nasty comments, and body shaming people, is not something to do. People sitting behind the screens take it as their authority to do so. They don’t understand the concept of beauty; in fact people are most beautiful when they are doing what they love."
