She also participated in the “Mediacorp The 5 Search”, Singaporean reality-acting-hosting competition programme that finds the next face of the broadcasting channel, and reached in the Top 16 despite not having any background in the field.
After she was crowned Miss World Singapore 2017, Laanya expressed her happiness by saying, “The gratitude and appreciation that I feel is never going to be just enough when I put it in words. However, I do hope it will prevail in my actions as well as my campaigning for a better and equal life for as many people possible, Thank you for letting this little brown girl live her dream as well as honoring her with the title of Miss Singapore World 2017”.
Looking at the history of Singapore's participation in Miss World, Singapore made its debut in Miss World in 1972 and since then it has never won any Miss World title so far. The best placement for Singapore was in the year 1976 when Pauline Poh Neo Cheong reached the Top 15 stage.
Can Laanya outperform what Pauline did in 1975?
