Yasmine Cooke crowned Miss Universe Bahamas 2017

At the conclusion of the grand finale of Miss Universe Bahamas 2017 held on 1st October 2017 at the Atlantis Theater, Paradise Island, Yasmine Cooke was crowned Miss Universe Bahamas 2017. She will now represent Bahamas in Miss Universe 2017 to be held on 26th November 2017 at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, USA. Yasmine succeeds and was officially crowned by Miss Universe Bahamas 2016 Cherell Williamson.

Yasmine bested 7 other contestants to win the crown of Miss Universe Bahamas 2017. Her court included Tiasha Lewis (first runner-up), Azaria Clare (second runner-up) and Danielle Gaitor (third runner-up).

Yasmine hails from the city of Nassau and is currently studying medicine at the University of the West Indies, St Agustine. She also has a degree in Neuroscience from George Mason University. The beauty is also passionate about hip hop dance and travel.

When asked why she competed in a beauty pageant while studying medicine Yasmine responded, "The precision, refinement and dedication… As a medical student and future doctor I can take the lessons learned from pageantry into this professional arena."

Bahamas has been competing at the Miss Universe pageant since 1963 but it is yet to win the title of Miss Universe. Do you think it can change this year?
