Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, who was crowned as Miss South Africa 2017 earlier this year, will be participating in Miss Universe 2017. After a phase of uncertainty on whether she will get to represent Africa in this year’s Miss World pageant or Miss Universe pageant, it has finally been confirmed that Demi-Leigh will officially compete for the Miss Universe crown this year.
Recently, the South African beauty queen addressed her fans in a post on her Facebook page by saying, "We're going to Universe! I'm saying "We" because I know that just like Miss South Africa we'll go on this journey together and I can't wait to share it with each and every one of you.”
21-year-old Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters hails from Sedgefield. She is a student of business management and entrepreneurship who manages her studies with part-time modeling.
Renowned stylists of South Africa, Werner Wessels and Noreen Kajee-Vareta will help Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in preparing for the contest.
Demi-Leigh expressed her excitement on getting the huge opportunity of representing her country in the Miss Universe Pageant. She said, "I am extremely excited and proud to represent our Rainbow Nation and cannot wait to wear the name ‘South Africa’ proudly across my chest. It has been 39 years since a South African wore the Miss Universe crown and I promise to dedicate and commit myself to ensure the crown will once again be on South African soil."
Well, all we can say is that she does start off as one of the favourites to win the Miss Universe 2017 title!
