Miss Supranational began in 2009 and since then eleven editions have been organized every year to crown a new queen. With five out of the nine titles held by Asian countries in the competition, it is pretty clear that Asia has dominated the pageant with their brilliant performances.
Even though, for the first four years, there was no Asian country that had won the crown. Ukraine went on to win the first Miss Supranational crown under Oksana Moria’s delegation. But in the last five years, Asian countries have not only debuted in the competition but also won four out of five titles. Pageantry also thinks that this is to strategize and popularize Miss Supranational in the Asian countries.
In 2013, the Philippines pioneered Asia’s win in Miss Supranational as Mutya Johanna Datul was crowned the new queen. The finale of Miss Supranational 2013 was held on 6th September 2013 in Minsk, Belarus. Mutya is a Filipino fashion model and actress.

In the consecutive year, Asha Bhat from India was crowned Miss Supranational 2014 as the finale was held on 5th December 2014 in Poland. This marked the second title under Asia’s belt and a huge achievement for India as it pioneered its win in the coveted competition. Asha Bhat is 26 years of age and a model and engineer by profession.

An alternate year after, India made a sandwich win as Srinidhi Shetty was crowned Miss Supranational 2016 as the finale was held on 2nd December 2016 in Poland. An actress in Kannada Cinema, Srinidhi is a prominent name in the South Entertainment Industry of India. This win made India the only country to hold a sandwich win in the pageant. It will be pretty interesting to note that if India wins the title this year again, it will create a double sandwich win making history!

In 2017, South Korea’s Jenny Kim won the Miss Supranational 2017 title, winning the fourth title for Asia. She defeated sixty-five other delegates to win the gorgeous crown and make her country proud. Jenny won the first major title for her country as South Korea had not won any title in major international pageants before then.

This year, the eleventh edition of Miss Supranational was held on 6th December 2019 in Poland where Anntonia Porsild of Thailand was crowned Miss Supranational 2019 bringing first victory for her country in the pageant as well as the fifth crown for Asia. She defeated seventy six other delegates to win the coveted Supra crown.

Asian beauties have, thus, proven their prominence in Miss Supranational beauty pageant. It is safe to say that the continent as well as India still dominate the pageant with country winning two titles since its inception. What will happen in the next edition is still to be seen but Asians will set the stage on fire, for sure, yet again next year.
