María José Segura Alvarez was crowned Miss Supranational Costa Rica 2024 at the finals of The Finalists Costa Rica 2023 held on 23rd May 2023 at Teatro Expresivo Pinares. Maria has been, since then, preparing to represent her country at Miss Supranational 2024.

María José Segura Alvarez is 27 years of age and holds a graduate degree in Criminal Investigation and Entrepreneurship. An entrepreneur, Maria also owns a goods store. Alvarez also believes in giving back to the society and likes to collaborate on different social projects.

As a social activist and Miss Supranational Costa Rica, Alvarez works for ‘No Animal Abuse’ with the Animal Welfare Cachi rescue group. The organization seeks to rescue and protect animals in vulnerable condition as well as raise awareness in new generations and promote responsible animal adoption. Just recently, Maria was also awarded recognition for her work at Pro del Animal Welfare, as a social activist.

On winning the national crown, Maria took to her official social media as she expressed her emotions in a post captioned, “I will always keep last night in my heart! Effort, sacrifice and perseverance ALWAYS bear fruit. Thanks to the organization and its sponsors for opening their doors to me and believing in me. Thanks to my family, friends and collaborators for supporting me every step of the way. I carry with honor and pride the name of Costa Rica on me. Now a preparation process will begin for next year. For now with love.”

The 15th edition of Miss Supranational will be held later in Nowy Sacz, Lesser Poland, Poland where Miss Supranational 2023 Andrea Aguilera of Ecuador will crown her successor at the end of the event finale.
