According to the rumours doing rounds in the pageant community, Binibining Pilipinas will soon be renouncing the franchise of Miss Supranational pageant. The country produced the first Asian Miss Supranational in 2013 in the courtesy of Mutya Datul, will no longer be responsible for sending delegates to Miss Supranational pageant.
Though no official confirmation has been made by the Binibining Pilipinas Organization or Miss Supranational Organization, it is likely that one of the much talked about national pageant has now decided to part ways with the Miss Supranational Organization. The reason for the same has not been speculated as of now. The pageants are yet to make a formal announcement regarding the change, and no statement has been made by either party.

According to an online source, “I have been sounded off more than a few times in the past few weeks about the rumor. And I am not confirming anything right now. I don’t want to preempt any kind of formal announcements from either parties – where the franchise will depart from and where it will make a landing soon after. What I clearly can say is that a Press Conference is being scheduled within the coming weeks. By the alleged new owner/s, that is. I cannot push the envelope any further and divulge more specific infos.”
However, this change might not lead to the end of the Binibining Pilipinas taking part in Miss Supranational, as the Miss World Philippines Organization will perhaps acquire the Miss Supranational franchise, which will give the Miss Supranational pageant a more distinctive recognition.
If the rumours turn out to be true, we might not see the reigning Miss Supranational Philippines 2017, Chanel Olive Thomas crowning her successor this March on the grand finale of Binibining Pilipinas 2018.
