Reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach called on the next Philippine president not to forget the members of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community.

She took her official Instagram handle (@piawurtzbach) to speak on the next Philippine president and she stated - “Wag n’yo pong kalimutan ang LGBT community,” (“Do you want to forget the LGBT community”), as Filipinos are set to select a new president on Monday (May 9, 2016).

The Filipino - German beauty queen also cleared the waves and made it clear that she is not endorsing any candidate for the presidential elections because Miss Universe is neutral.

She was further quoted as saying - “Just to be clear. I am not pushing any candidate for the upcoming elections. I’m updated on it but it’s all up to you, kababayan (Countryman),”.

Pia Wurtzbach, who is currently staying in New York, also asked the Philippines people to be wise voters.

Please choose wisely. Pag-isipan po ng mabuti. Every tick on those name count. And it should be your decision. Yours. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!” Wurtzbach wrote.

On the same day, she requested her fans to pray for all the mothers in the world, on the occasion of the International Mother’s Day.

She also revived those days when she used to ride the tricycle, sleeping under the mosquito net, and walking in floodwaters on her way to school.

Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach also said that she never stated these things when she competed in beauty contests because she never wanted to win the coveted title out of empathy.

Pia is glad to be a Filipino and she further added that she may have German blood, but her heart is in the Philippines.
