Reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach recently attended the Latino Commission on AIDS 2016 Annual Cielo gala event held at Cipriani Wall Street in NYC. The gala event honoured the eminent personalities in the field of medicine.
Based on the theme of “Designing a World Without AIDS,” the event spoke about critical health issues along with the organization’s efforts to confront stigma and isolation, and in particular to highlight the harsh reality of the disproportionate impact of HIV and AIDS faced by some of the most vulnerable populations.

Being a new advocate for HIV, AIDS awareness, Pia Alonoz Wurtzbach is beautifully completing her duties and has been a prominent activist since her win at the annual international pageant Miss Universe 2015 held in December in Las Vegas.
Pia Wurtzbach officially became an advocate for HIV in January, and has also graced a workshop focusing on global statistics, HIV and its relation with the LGBT community and Gender and Sexuality from the non-profit organization Aid for AIDS.

And now as she has been declared the newest ‘Madrina’ (Godmother) for the Latino Commission on AIDS, she has been lending her voice to the vital cause of public awareness about the critical disease. As a newest representative, she calls for an end to the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS.
“Honored to be this year's Madrina for the Latino Commission on AIDS. Thank you thank you thank you!! I was so excited to finally do a speech after a long time of training and visits in different organizations on HIV awareness,” she explained.
The German Filipina beauty queen further explained, “Thank you for accepting me as a part of your family and trusting me to be the spokesperson for this cause. I feel so welcome.”
The gala evening saw a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner and an awards presentation.
