On April 27’ 2016 (Wednesday), the reigning beauty queen Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach warned netizens and her fans against some fake social media accounts claiming to be her.
The beauty queen took her official Instagram to warn her fans. Her post reads; “Please stop. This is not real. This is not me. Thank you. I have a fan page and a fan group that is being handled by Daryl and of course the Official Miss Universe Facebook page. Please help me spread the word out. Maraming salamat po (Thank you very much),”.
The reigning Miss Universe clarified that the only official Facebook accounts under her name and title are the verified Miss Universe page and a fan page and a fan group handled by a certain Daryl (a Pianatics leader).

The half-German and half-Filipino beauty queen posted a screenshot of a post from one forged account, asking followers to choose between Santiago and Duterte.
Santiago is Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago, while Duterte is Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte—both of whom are seeking the presidency in the upcoming May national elections.

The beauty queen Pia has come back to New York City after her official trip to Peru. She went to Peru to grace the official crowning ceremony of Miss Universe Peru 2016, which saw Valeria Piazza as the winner. The beauty queen graced the event as one of the coveted judges of the gala night.
Prior to her Peru trip, the beauty queen visited her hometown, Manila, Philippines to crown her successor, Binibining Pilipinas 2016 during the Binibining Pilipinas 2016 coronation night, which saw Maria Mika Maxine Medina as the winner.
