Pia Wurtzbach has been appointed as the ambassador of UNAIDS

One of the most popular Miss Universe winners, Pia Wurtzbach, is now the official ambassador of UNAIDS. Pia has always expressed her views and her keen interest towards spreading awareness on AIDS. In fact, during her Q&A round at the finals of Miss Universe 2015, Pia emphasized on her advocacy and said, “To be a Miss Universe is both an honor and responsibility. If I were to be Miss Universe, I will use my voice to influence the youth and I would raise awareness to certain causes like HIV awareness that is timely and relevant to my country which is the Philippines. I want to show the world, the universe rather, that I am confidently beautiful with a heart. Thank you.

The beauty queen has now been appointed as the UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador for Asia and the Pacific. The official event was held at the Ateneo De Manila University. The great news was announced by Pia’s mentor, Jonas Antonio Gaffud.

Finally it's official. Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach is now the UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador for Asia and the Pacific. Signing the official letter with Steve Kraus, Director of UNAIDS Regional Support Team, Asia & The Pacific. Other international ambassadors are Victoria Beckham, Aishawarya Rai, Aung Sun Su Kyi, Naomi Watts, Norway's Crown Princess Mette Marit, Princess Stephanie of Monaco and other international celebrities. #alwaysmissuniverse #unaids #piawurtzbach

Pia also shared the news on her Instagram post and wrote, "Finally its official! I will be working with UNAIDS as their Goodwill Ambassador for Asia and the Pacific.”

The UNAIDS Organisation will be heading the #Live2LUV campaign that will help to inspire, promote and educate young people on sexual and reproductive health diseases, and spread awareness on HIV. The idea of the campaign is to reduce the stigma towards young population in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations region.
