“When Jeremy and I did a trip to Bawah Reserve earlier this year, one of the things I learned from him is the importance of sustainability in tourism. And how our efforts, even at home, can impact the environment,” Pia shared on her social media account. It was then she became more interested in leading a “greener lifestyle.” She’s been learning so much and she’s excited to share these things with her supporters.

The digital fundraiser hour is basically a live stream where celebrities, changemakers, and public figures come together to spread awareness on pressing environmental issues and encourage viewers to practice and contribute to the organization’s conservation efforts. And to promote the sustainable living Pia and Jeremy hosted the digital fundraiser for a better understanding about the topics as they could tell their first-hand experience.

The live started with both introducing themselves as the WWF ambassadors and explained about what is a fundraiser hour. They encouraged the people to help the WWF organization with whatever amount they can in order to help the front liners with their essentials. Pia went onto explain that Jeremey has been a part of the panda family since 2018 as he is the WWF US ambassador and has been campaigning for smart conservation and eco-tourism. Pia stated that his work has helped her understand and take into consideration the wellbeing of the environment and she is now working with her team to make it possible.

The two spoke about sustainable tourism and how one can impact the tourism of a country. He explained that the two pillars of sustainable tourism are where and how you travel. He further explained that where you travel should be to a place that needs support and help the local people because sustainable tourism impacts directly to the local people of the community that is why it should be well thought. Pia who represented the Philippines at Miss Universe 2015 and won the crown for the country has always been someone the people across the world look up to because she has invested her reign and post reign time in building a community that is strong, confident, and positive towards life. She is considered as one of the successful beauty queens from the Philippines who constantly tries to educate herself with new things in life. "I always want to use my platform as a public figure to campaign for relevant issues. And with the pandemic showing us that planetary health is deeply connected with human health, I think it's high time for us to acknowledge that our actions do affect the planet and everyone around us," said Wurtzbach, who was tapped by WWF-Philippines early this year for three fundraisers.

Toward the end of the virtual session, Jauncey announced that Wurtzbach has been named an ambassador for WWF-Philippines. Other WWF-Philippines ambassadors also welcomed Wurtzbach through a pre-recorded clip shown during the Facebook live session. Seen in the video were actresses Iza Calzado and Janine Gutierrez, hosts Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez, and Miss Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco.
