Addinng onto her achievements, the unstoppable Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach is not resting on her laurels. One of the most in-demand endorsers and magazine cover stars from Philippines has revealed, in a recent interview, that she is currently taking non-formal entrepreneurship classes at the Open University, University of the Philippines.
Appearing to venture further into a business path, Wurtzbach shared, “Now, as we speak, I am studying entrepreneurship online. I am studying at the Open University at UP, but a non-formal course.” Although she is getting practice on entrepreneurship from her brand collaborations, milk tea shop and managing her own career, Pia pointed out that she still has a long way to go when it comes to learning about business.
“I know that I really have to gain more knowledge if I want to make my own brand or my own product one day,” she said, mentioning that putting up her own brand was one of her goals. She also revealed that she has also been handling her own career.
The beauty queen acknowledged that she will grow old someday and her priorities may change in the future, so she is considering having a business as something to fall back on. “One day, my focus will change to family. I want to be secure in my life even if I am no longer an actress or beauty queen. I need to create something that will last, that won’t require me being in front of the camera all the time,” she added.
Wurtzbach shared that the journey as an entrepreneur is "a slow process," but this is the first time that she got "super excited" about something since competing in Miss Universe. Aside from being a beauty queen and actress, she is also a culinary arts graduate and an ambassador for both UNAIDS and WWF-Philippines.
The queen is also soon launching a platform, which aims to tackle mental health and wellness by featuring several individuals to share their stories, called ‘Holding Space: Voices of Hope.’ “It is a program where we give a face to different issues affecting people’s mental wellness, while also encouraging everyone to reach out to the people that they trust for support,” Wurtzback explained
She made history back in 2015 after winning the Philippines' third Miss Universe crown, ending a 42-year drought for the country. For now, Pia is still unsure as to what specific business she may set up, but she is already cooking up some plans for the future.
