Six months after she promised to raise awareness on the HIV/AIDS epidemic and help shed the stigma of HIV testing, Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach went to the Apicha Community Health Center (Apicha CHC) in New York City and got tested. Isn’t that something very motivating? The beauty queen knows how to utilise her social media accounts perfectly for the cause. In addition to using her social media to spread her social message, Pia also met Michel Sidibé, executive director of UNAIDS and under secretary general to the United Nations. Pia discussed her further plans to help the Philippines with Michel.

When Pia visited Manila to attend the finale of Binibining Pilipinas 2016, she held a press conference at at Novotel where she shared that she is doing her research about the HIV/AIDS and assured that the media and the public that she is taking it seriously.

When Pia returned to New York, in an interview with advocacy group amfAR she said that she wants to use her Miss Universe title to direct people towards important issues, such as battling the rise of HIV/AIDS cases, and urging the government to be more cautious about human traffic and rampant drug use.

During her six months journey, Pia explored different experiences. With her evergreen smile and cordial nature Pia made many friends throughout. One of the people who Pia got closed to during the voyage was her former roommate, Miss USA 2015 Olivia Jordan. In one of her instagram posts, Olivia called Pia as the “best Miss Universe ever”. Well she surely is one of the best Miss Universe Winners. What do you think??
