Ever since the beauty queen was crowned as Miss Universe, Pia has been gaining worldwide attention for working out her responsibilities and advocacies adequately. In one of her interviews, Pia also said that she wants to use the attention she had receive as Miss Universe to direct people towards important issues like HIV/AIDS cases. She wants to break the taboos regarding the disease.
